BankNewport Funds Impact John Clarke Senior Living Resident Mobility and Wellness

BankNewport representatives recently joined members of John Clarke Senior Living board of directors to celebrate their purchase of a new wheelchair accessible van.  The Bank extended a $12,500 grant to help purchase the van, which will improve mobility and accessibility for the senior residents.

The van is part of John Clarke Senior Living’s broader mission to create a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment that meets the evolving needs of Aquidneck Island’s aging population. With approximately 70% of John Clarke Senior Living residents receiving Medicaid, the new van allows staff to better support those residents with limited mobility who rely on group transportation.

BankNewport also extended $5,500 to John Clarke Senior Living to help purchase a medical device that can rapidly detect potential contagious viruses.  John Clarke Senior Living participated in a Brown University study using the device and considers it to be an important public health tool in mitigating potential community outbreaks for staff, visitors and their families at their facility.

Founded more than 40 years ago, John Clarke Senior Living offers skilled nursing and elder care for hundreds of patients and residents across Newport County.
