Robinson+Cole Insurance Practice Launches Latest Blog, Covering Appeals
Robinson+Cole recently launched Covering Appeals, the latest addition to the firm’s network of blogs. The new blog unpacks the latest, high-impact insurance coverage appellate cases and patterns, and monitors developing cases to provide readers with an in-depth analysis of industry trends.
The Covering Appeals blog is produced by members of Robinson+Cole’s Insurance Appeals team, which is part of the firm’s Insurance + Reinsurance group, with Wystan M. Ackerman, Scott T. Garosshen and Raymond M. Gauvreau serving as primary contributors. The Team has been involved in key cases arising from the COVID-19 business interruption insurance litigation, Chinese-manufactured Drywall, labor depreciation, September 11th catastrophe, Hurricane Katrina and various other issues. The Team also regularly represents national and statewide insurance industry associations as amici curiae in federal and state appellate courts nationwide.
“We were inspired by our desire to provide the insurance industry with one dynamic resource in the appeals space,” said Ackerman. “Covering Appeals will timely examine new and developing issues in appellate law, as well as coverage issues of interest to the insurance industry nationwide, providing valuable insights to aid in appellate litigation strategy. Our decades of experience with insurance law and the insurance industry at large enables us to see the big picture.”
“I am confident that the Covering Appeals blog will serve as a valuable resource for our clients across all lines of business and personal insurance,” said Robinson+Cole Insurance + Reinsurance group chair Gregory P. Varga.
The launch of Covering Appeals comes at a crucial time, offering valuable insights into pressing issues for carriers amidst a rapidly evolving appellate landscape. Recent posts have explored how pollution exclusions in insurance policies are affecting coverage of climate change litigation, highlight a new procedural tool available when appealing from a remand to state court, explain how a policy’s mandatory appraisal clause may be used to defeat subject matter jurisdiction, and survey the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on business interruption claims. Readers can expect the blog to continue providing in-depth analysis and experienced perspectives on a wide range of topics. To receive updates from the Covering Appeals blog, please subscribe.
