Salary - $51,896.00 - $62,276.00

What it’s all about:
We are seeking a dynamic professional to serve as a Community Lending Processor in our Homeownership Department. This position is accountable for the efficient and accurate processing and servicing of loans and other records pertaining to a variety of Community Lending Programs to ensure appropriate compliance and efficient customer service.

This is a hybrid position based in Providence, Rhode Island, where you will be an integral part of our Homeownership team. The role is designed for face-to-face collaboration and direct involvement in our office environment.
 
What you’ll do on a daily basis:        
  • Originate and process applications to determine eligibility for Community Lending Programs in alignment with RIHousing and federal guidelines. Meet with applicants to explain program requirements, including programs such as Access Independence II and the Clean Water Program.
  • Review application documentation, prepare loan estimates and disclosures, verify that applicants meet all program requirements, obtain credit reports, and confirm appropriate payment options before underwriting approval and closing.
  • Prepare all closing documents, including notes, mortgage deeds, loan agreements, closing disclosures, and notices of right to cancel, conduct loan closings, and prepare disbursement requests for assigned loans. Record daily activity in the Blacknight servicing system.
  • Prepare loan setup packages for servicing and purchase after disbursement using the Integra System.
  • Provide information to the public regarding Community Lending Program guidelines and procedures, and represent RIHousing at trade shows and industry events as assigned.
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager to update departmental procedures and policies, and support special projects as needed.
What you’ll bring to the team:
  • Strong proficiency in processing, documenting, and managing loan files with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience originating and evaluating loan applications, with the ability to clearly explain program guidelines for initiatives such as Access Independence II and the Clean Water Program.
  • Solid understanding of underwriting requirements, including the ability to satisfy conditional commitments, review credit reports, and ensure all submissions meet required timelines and standards.
  • Expertise in preparing complete and compliant closing packages, coordinating loan closings, and managing disbursement requests while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to independently manage special projects, conduct research, and support evolving departmental needs.
What you’ll need to succeed:
  • Two years of residential mortgage loan processing and closing experience and exposure to mortgage servicing functions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills
  • Associate's degree in business administration, real estate, or related field
